Come and join me on this new amazing journey of Nature-Scapes. My new found freedom of creating “glimpses” of nature amid an arrangement of cloth & fibres, incorporating new textures and thread painting. You will create little “windows” of joy with images of fabrics that can be found within your stash, master how to embellish them to make them pop! Learn to make new fabrics with my technique of recreating fabric and designing them into new surfaces. Thread painting and embellish with 3D decorations as part of your theme.

The sky has the potential to be the most exciting element to enhance and energise any landscape. With its endless capacity for change, it is the most flexible compositional tool that you can experiment with. Once the sky is constructed and quilted, we will add our foreground with a number of techniques for creating land forms, areas of water, rocks, and trees outlined.

Experience the magic of Shibori (Japanese resist-dyeing) using Japanese indigo. Participants will learn how indigo dye is made in Japan and ten or more Shibori techniques. You will also learn what you can make in your future projects (bags, quilt tops, clothing) with indigo dyed materials. In the process of creating scarves and 2m of fabric for you to use in projects, you will explore as many of these techniques as you wish and amaze yourself with what is possible in this very accessible craft.

Create a 3D textile sculpture of Queensland’s symbol for tourism, the Ulysses butterfly. Ulysses takes flight from a cluster of 3D eucalyptus leaves- these can be mounted on a quilted panel background as Wall ART. Use texture and stitch on fabric surfaces with Bree, thread painting and blend colour to enhanced your individual artworks. Bree is a celebrated Gallery Artist in textiles with a strong connection to nature and her surroundings, The world of moths, butterflies and insects are a strong influence to Bree’s designs and her uncanny way to make life-like sculptural creations is a feast for the eyes.
